The Department of Workforce Development (DWD) connects Kentuckians to apprenticeships, career development, education, employment and training, and prepares them to enter the workforce, advance their careers, improve job performance, and fill skills gaps. DWD also strives to help create economic prosperity for Kentucky businesses and employers. The agencies of the department--the Career Development Office, the Office of Adult Education, the Office of Employer and Apprenticeship Services, and the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation--work together to provide services through the Kentucky Career Center network. The Kentucky Workforce Innovation Board (KWIB) serves to advise the Governor on workforce training and development issues and facilitates the adoption and implementation of a statewide plan to move Kentucky forward through workforce training and development.
